Appliance Shopping

So even though it's quite early for this, we decided to go down to DirectBuy to take a look at appliances over the weekend.

We finally settled (I hope) on an appliance set that thankfully is within the budget. There's just one small catch: we're on budget only if we take advantage of a manufacturer's special Christmas Rebate that's only good unless we place our order before December 25th of this year. We'd be saving $800 off approximately $5,000 worth of appliances - the Cooktop, Double Oven, and the Dishwasher - so it's definitely worth it.

This complicates things quite a bit, however:
  1. We're not anywhere near ready for appliances to be delivered, so I don't know if we can order (and pay) now, and specify a delivery much later.
  2. We can't draw for appliances until they're installed, so we won't be compensated for purchasing them until that time - we'll either have to put them on a credit card, or reduce what little money we have left even more. I'm sadly leaning towards the credit card.
Here's what we've (tentatively) selected:

LG Model LCG3691ST 36" 5-Burner Cooktop:

With a Faber Tratto 36" Hood overhead:

LG Model LWD3081ST 30" Double Oven:

LG Model LSC27921ST Refrigerator:

LG Microwave LRM2060:

LG Model LDF7932ST Dishwasher:

Whirlpool Model WFW9400SW Washer and Model WGD9400SW Dryer:

I'm hoping they can delay the delivery so we won't have to worry about storing them. I'll have to check and see.

Are your sure there won't be another sale closer to your needing the appliances? Be careful about credit. The interest is going to eat into your savings.

Check with the builder to see if he can get a draw on them, or if he can store them.

I'm sure you're already weighing these ideas. I'm just sayin'.

It's so exciting to see the details of the house coming together.
